Summary

Vietnam’s International Financial Centre (VIFC) is moving from policy and institutional design into implementation across Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. This webinar will examine what Vietnam is building, where VIFC has reached, and the key factors that will determine whether it develops into a trusted and internationally connected financial marketplace.

Drawing on lessons from established and emerging financial centres around the world, the session will consider how Vietnam can develop a model suited to its own economy and international ambitions. It will also explore what VIFC could mean for finance professionals across Vietnam, Asia-Pacific and beyond, including potential implications for investment and capital markets, accounting and reporting, audit and assurance, treasury, risk and compliance, sustainable finance, fintech and emerging digital financial services.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the session, participants should be able to:

  • Explain the current development status of Vietnam’s International Financial Centre and the complementary roles of Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang.
  • Identify key characteristics of successful international financial centres and relevant lessons that Vietnam can draw from established and emerging global models.
  • Recognise the potential implications of VIFC for finance professionals and organisations across areas including investment, accounting and reporting, audit and assurance, treasury, risk, compliance, sustainable finance and digital financial services.
  • Apply a practical framework for monitoring VIFC’s development and considering how its evolution may create opportunities, risks or capability requirements for their organisation, clients or professional role.
