Summary

This first event of the TAX PD Series Green Sessions is an introductory session to Fringe Benefits Tax to graduate tax accountants between 1 to 3 years’ experience. We will cover the basics of Fringe Benefits Tax and the different fringe benefits that are encountered in public practice. The types of Fringe Benefit covered will be motor vehicle, loans, expense payments, housing, living away from home, property, entertainment, car parking and meal entertainment. The following sessions will cover Trust, Capital Gains Tax, and Division 7A. Light catering will be provided. Please indicate any dietary requirements during the registration process. Please note these sessions are target for accountants between 1 to 3 years' experience.

  • Identify the various types of Fringe Benefits
  • How the taxable fringe benefits value is calculated for each fringe benefit type
  • How to prepare a Fringe Benefit tax return

Starting his career in a boutique CPA firm, Rupert has worked with CAANZ second-tier firms and prestigious Big 4 firms, showcasing his dedication to delivering excellence across various professional settings.

Rupert is a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA), a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (FCA), and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia (FTIA). He also holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from Curtin University.

Specializing in assisting SMEs, Rupert focuses on complex areas such as Capital Gains and Trust Law. As Chair of the Public Practice Committee and an active CPA speaker for universities, he is passionate about fostering knowledge sharing and mentoring future professionals.

In addition to his professional commitments, Rupert volunteers at the Curtin Tax Clinic, where he not only provides guidance to clients but also helps train students in bookkeeping and financial statement preparation.
