Summary
CPA and Rupert Cheong (FCPA) welcome the new advanced TAX PD Series: Blue Sessions.
Designed for tax practitioners with 3–5 years’ experience looking to strengthen and refine their technical knowledge across key tax areas encountered in public practice.
This quarterly series begins with an in-depth session on Fringe Benefits Tax (Salary Sacrifice & Leases), followed by Trusts (Bendal & where to from here), Capital Gains Tax (Small Business Concessions), and lastly Division 7A (Identifying & Resolving Inherited Div 7A Issues from a new client). Light catering will be provided, and participants are encouraged to indicate any dietary requirements during registration.
The 2026 session dates are as follows:

Rupert Cheong
With over 30 years of experience in the accounting and taxation industry, Rupert Cheong brings a wealth of expertise to his role as Director of Alpha Accountancy Services Pty Ltd. Starting his career in a boutique CPA firm, Rupert has worked with CAANZ second-tier firms and prestigious Big 4 firms, showcasing his dedication to delivering excellence across various professional settings.
Rupert is a Fellow of CPA Australia (FCPA), a Fellow of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (FCA), and a Fellow of the Taxation Institute of Australia (FTIA). He also holds a Master’s degree in Taxation from Curtin University.
Specializing in assisting SMEs, Rupert focuses on complex areas such as Capital Gains and Trust Law. As Chair of the Public Practice Committee and an active CPA speaker for universities, he is passionate about fostering knowledge sharing and mentoring future professionals.
In addition to his professional commitments, Rupert volunteers at the Curtin Tax Clinic, where he not only provides guidance to clients but also helps train students in bookkeeping and financial statement preparation.
Rupert’s dedication to his craft and commitment to community education make him a highly respected leader and speaker in the field of accountancy and taxation.

Daniel Taborksy

For Dan, there are no problems, only solutions. This unique way of thinking, combined with Dan’s obsession for mastering the tax law, allows him to find solutions where others can’t.
Dan has practised solely in tax for his entire career. His experience includes working as a senior tax lawyer in Perth and Sydney for EY Law and Greenwoods & Herbert Smith Freehills. Dan has also lectured for the University of Western Australia (UWA) in their Master of Taxation course. He regularly presents and writes on tax issues for leading professional bodies including The Tax Institute and the Law Society of WA.
Dan holds a Bachelor of Law (First Class Honours), a Master of Professional Accounting and a Master of Business (Finance and Economics). He is a Chartered Tax Advisor (CTA).
