Angela Watson

Risk and Resilience Senior Manager

Angela Watson is an accomplished Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) leader and Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) with extensive experience across private enterprise, the public sector, and the not-for-profit sector. A seasoned Company Secretary and Non-Executive Director, Angela brings a strong governance perspective underpinned by advanced qualifications including an MBA, CPRM, GAICD and GAGIA.  

Angela’s leadership and expertise have been widely recognised. In 2025, she was named Australia’s Top 100 Governance Professional of the Year, and in 2026 she was a finalist in the RMIA Risk Leader of the Year awards.  

As a Risk and Resilience senior leader in the Queensland energy generating sector, Angela is responsible for overseeing financial risk and safeguarding critical infrastructure within the energy sector. She is known for her strategic approach to navigating complex risk environments and strengthening organisational resilience. 

A dedicated member of CPA Australia for over 20 years, Angela has actively contributed to the profession through a range of leadership and development initiatives. Her contributions include serving on the CPA Australia Conference Committee, a CPA Facilitator for the Southwest Brisbane region, and being recognised as one of CPA Australia’s Top 40 Young Leaders Under 40 in 2013, also presenting at the Brisbane CPA Conference and participating in the 2026 CPA Australia Global Mentoring Program, supporting emerging professionals.  

Angela is passionate about advancing the standing of CPAs particularly beyond traditional accounting roles by promoting governance excellence and building strong, risk-aware organisations.
