Understanding iCare: Navigating Workers Compensation and Return-to-Work Obligations

As CPA’s and other Professionals working within our sector, if not the wider business community, we are often faced with the situation of dealing with staff with various injuries. What happens to these individuals and our responsibility towards their ongoing care and support is lesser known. icare manages workers compensation insurance for over 338,000 employers in NSW, covering nearly 4 million employees. This includes funding for lost wages, medical treatment, rehabilitation, and support services for injured workers to help them recover and return to work. This presentation will inform and equip us with the fundamental and necessary knowledge as to what occurs when an injured worker approaches icare for this support, what the employer needs to know and our ongoing involvement, including our insurance commitment.

Andrew was appointed as icare’s industry relationship manager in November 2021. He holds a degree in Medical Science from Sydney University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance & Risk Management, and a Certificate IV in Work, Health and Safety.

With over 20 years of experience in the heath and insurance sectors, Andrew has developed a deep understanding of industry needs and challenges. In his current role, he is responsible for engaging with and developing strategic relationships with national and state-based industry groups and associations, particularly in relation to workers’ compensation, driving collaboration and advancing sector outcomes.
