Summary
On behalf of the Tasmanian Public Sector Committee members are invited for a private site tour of Parliament House. The tour will focus on the history of Parliament House and the role of the Parliament. The tour includes the Parliamentary Museum and both chambers of Parliament.
Important things to note:
- Please enter Parliament House at the front of the building facing onto Parliament Lawns.
- All visitors must go through security screening and inspection of personal possessions to enter Parliament House. All bags will be scanned, so please remove any sharp items before coming to Parliament House. Guests are requested to remove all metal items (including coins) from their pockets prior to entry to reduce delays. If any visitors have a heart pacemaker or a diabetic pump fitted, you need to flag this to the security staff before passing through any scanner. Security screening ensures a safe environment for both visitors and parliamentary staff. If you require any assistance with the security screening process, please ask a Parliament House Security officer.
- There is no filming or photography allowed of the secure entrance area. Visitors are welcome to take photographs in other parts of the building.
- If you find climbing stairs difficult, please mention this to your tour guide. Special arrangements can be made for visitors requiring additional physical support.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop an understanding of the history, structure, and function of Tasmania’s Parliament and its role in the democratic process.
