Leadership isn’t just about your title or where you are in your career. So, what does good leadership really look like?
Following Dave Clare’s recent thought-provoking presentation at our CPA breakfast event, we’re keeping the conversation going with a CPA member-led discussion on leadership.
Dave challenged us to think differently about leadership, including this definition:
“Helping other people become the best version of themselves, so they can do their life’s best work, while in your care and beyond.”
Dave believes the true test of leadership is the capability we leave behind, rather than how indispensable we become. You don’t need to manage a team, hold a senior position or consider yourself a “leader”. Whether you’re starting out, building your career, leading others, approaching the later stages of your working life—or somewhere in between—you bring experiences and perspectives others can learn from.
What has leadership looked like at different stages of your career? What have you learnt from the people who have led you well? How has your own approach changed with experience? And what are you still working out?
This will be an informal, member-led discussion, not a presentation and everyone is encouraged to contribute.

This life skills focused discussion group is convened by Sue Mason-Baker and Michele Gusman who together have many years of industry and not-for-profit experience. Sue and Michele currently serve on the CPA Sunshine Coast Branch Committee.
