‘My Career’ is a new series developed in Tasmania in 2021 as the result of an initiative from the Tasmanian Divisional Council member engagement plan. The series will target our young professional members, building their skills and supporting them in their career journey. Further sessions, including face to face, will be promoted throughout the year.
Stuart Martin
Stuart is a Manager in the Hays Hobart office, directly managing 10 Professional Services Recruitment Consultants. Stuart joined Hays in early 2014 where he was given the brief of growing the Accountancy and Finance business across the South of Tasmania.
Today, Stuart is still responsible for the delivery of Senior Finance Recruitment across Southern Tasmania. Stuart is the longest standing specialist Accountancy and Finance recruitment consultant in the Hobart market, and is a market leader within the Accounting & Finance space.
Stuart has as an intimate knowledge of the accounting sector having previously held positions as an External Auditor with Deloitte, and in a Budgeting and forecasting position with Glenorchy City Council. With a background in Accounting, Stuart uses his extensive experience, to develop a clear understanding of what is required in the vacancy to successfully source candidates who have not only the right technical skills, but also the right experience and cultural fit. Stuart holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce with the University of Tasmania, and prides himself on his ability to find the perfect candidate for a business.
James Hipwood CPA
James leads the Corporate Services team for Tasmanian Irrigation a State-Owned Company focused on building and operating irrigation schemes that allow farmers to diversify, value-add and grow their agricultural businesses. James has over 12 years business and accounting experience previously holding several accounting and finance roles in transport and infrastructure in Australia and the UK and working for KPMG. James is passionate about ensuring members have relevant CPD events and that ASAs are provided with support and career path information.
Eleanor Patterson FCPA
Eleanor has more than 20 years’ experience in the public sector, including 15 years in the Department of Health and Human Services at a senior level. She has significant experience in financial and budget management, financial reporting and compliance, and monitoring financial performance. Eleanor’s qualifications include a bachelor of Commerce and Laws, Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Fellow of the Governance Institute and a Fellow of CPA Australia. Eleanor is a past Divisional Councillor with CPA Australia (Tasmania Division), past director of the Tasmanian Council for AIDS, Hepatitis and Related Diseases and has previously been Treasurer for the Dirt Devils/Hobart Wheelers Cycling Club.
